Trinkets

In the bin where I keep my “outfits,” I also keep all the little trinkets I’ve been gifted at various festivals.

Kandi bracelets, sprouts, little duckies, and of course all the wristbands from past events.

It’s fun to go through those things and think back to each festival.

That might honestly be one of my favorite parts—coming home with all the random little gifts.

At the same time, I do struggle a bit with the environmental impact of all of it.

Eventually, most of those things will end up in a landfill… but not by me.

That’ll be a problem for whoever has to go through my stuff when I’m dead.

I do sometimes wonder what the fuck they’ll think when they find an entire bin full of festival duckies, kandi bracelets, and tiny plastic sprouts.

When it comes to what I like to hand out, I usually stick with Liquid IVs. Someone’s gotta keep people hydrated.

This year, though, I decided to decorate clothespins with little messages and attach them to the Liquid IVs.

The idea came from one of the years at Electric Forest. There was a group sneaking around attaching clothespins to people, and later you’d find some sweet little message clipped onto you.

And just like with packing, I threw on another fun set from last year while I worked on them.

This time it was Fisher’s.

What I didn’t consider when I started decorating clothespins was how time consuming it would be…

or how high I’d get off permanent marker fumes.

Thank God my fingers are not permanently dyed.
