Trying to Make a Schedule

When I first started attending festivals, I would try to stick to some sort of schedule.

I quickly learned that was nearly impossible.

DJ’s playing at the same time, trying to catch part of one set while running across the festival to catch another… it became way too much.

I also learned it was kind of fun to just bounce around and stop wherever felt right.

That’s actually how I discovered some DJ’s I probably never would have listened to otherwise.

It’s also nearly impossible to get an entire group to want to see the same people.

Which is the case this year.

As of right now, there’s only one DJ my bestie wants to see that I’m not really into, which honestly feels like the perfect time for me to venture off and explore on my own a bit.

One of the perks of having gone to so many festivals is that I’ve been fortunate enough to see a lot of the DJ’s I’ve wanted to see…

some of them maybe too many times.

The downfall to being an older festival goer is that I don’t recognize a lot of the newer names anymore.

Part of why going by vibes is fun.

That, and having younger friends that keep me somewhat up to date.

With Mau P’s set from last year playing in the background, I went through each day and marked the sets I’d want—using that word loosely—to see.

Out of all of them, there are really only two that feel like must-sees for me.

One I’ve never seen before, and honestly don’t even know if I’ll enjoy live. They might just sound good in my car.

And another that I haven’t seen in years… but holds a very special place in my world.
