Arriving

The night before, I never sleep.

Too filled with excitement.

My bags have been reorganized a few times now just to kill nervous energy.

The feeling reminds me of being a kid on Christmas Eve waiting for Santa. A mix of excitement to get there, with the nerves that seem to come along with any sort of travel.

People watching at SeaTac is normally a little harder when trying to figure out who is EDC bound.

This year though, it felt pretty obvious.

I’d be lying if I said this trip wasn’t a little emotionally layered for me.

There were some incredible memories that came out of last year, and some of them are bittersweet now.

I knew those feelings would come up at some point, they weren’t going to kill the vibe

It actually makes me laugh a little what ends up triggering those moments.

Last night, it was the valet.

My flight ended up delayed by an hour, putting me into Vegas later than originally planned.

But honestly, getting off the plane and feeling the airport energy immediately started hyping me up.

Meeting my bestie at baggage claim, we waited what felt like forever for my one too many bags to finally show up.

After checking into our rooms, we headed over to meet up with the rest of our group.

Being reunited with my bro’s was amazing.

We stayed up way too late last night drinking, talking about meetup spots, and dancing in the hotel bar.

It was the perfect first night.

They obnoxiously told everyone it was my birthday, which apparently is going to be their theme for the weekend.

After finally calling it a night around 3am, my bestie and I ended up having a sleepover in my room.

He told me I am not allowed to wake up until at least 10 or 11am.

It is currently 7:52am, and I’m writing this from the couch while he’s still asleep.

I’ve really missed these dudes.

It’s one of the hardest parts about no longer living in California, and part of why I’m really cherishing this weekend with them.

And now we get ready for Day 1.

Which will also be my first time ever making it to opening ceremonies.
